Stillpoint CRM vs Freshdesk
The short verdict
Freshdesk's free tier for one to two agents is genuinely good and hard to beat: real ticketing, a knowledge base and email support at no cost. Its omnichannel breadth and AI features are also ahead of anything Stillpoint offers. For a solo founder or a two-person support desk, Freshdesk is a sensible first choice and we would not argue with it.
The turn is structural rather than critical: the free tier ends exactly when you start growing. Growth was $19 per agent per month in August 2026, Pro $55 and Enterprise $89, all billed annually — so hiring, the outcome you want, increases the bill. Five agents on Growth is $1,140 a year and on Pro $3,300, for the helpdesk alone.
Stillpoint Pro is $299 a year for up to five sites with unlimited agents, self-hosted, and that price also covers the sales CRM, quotes and invoicing, the WooCommerce suite, work management and marketing automation. It has no omnichannel channels and no AI, so this is a trade rather than a clean win.

What it actually costs for a 5-agent team, per year
Five agents is the point at which the free tier has long since ended. The arithmetic is shown so you can check it.
| Option | Arithmetic | Per year | What you get for it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk Growth | 5 × $19 × 12 | $1,140/yr | Helpdesk only |
| Freshdesk Pro | 5 × $55 × 12 | $3,300/yr | Helpdesk only |
| Freshdesk Enterprise | 5 × $89 × 12 | $5,340/yr | Helpdesk only |
| Stillpoint Pro | $299 flat | $299/yr | Helpdesk plus CRM, invoicing, WooCommerce, work management and marketing — unlimited agents, on your own server |

The free tier is genuinely good — say so first
Freshdesk gives one or two agents a working helpdesk for nothing: ticketing, email integration and a knowledge base, hosted and maintained by the vendor with no server to look after. For a solo founder or a two-person team that is an excellent deal, and there is no self-hosted product that beats free.
Freshdesk is also ahead on breadth. Its omnichannel options — chat, social, messaging and voice — and its AI features are things Stillpoint does not have in any form. If a customer expects to reach you by WhatsApp today, that decision is already made.
So if you are one or two agents on email, install Freshdesk's free plan. Nothing on this page argues otherwise.
The free tier ends exactly when you start growing
The awkwardness of per-agent pricing is that it charges you for success. Hire a third agent and the free plan no longer applies; the whole team moves onto a paid tier, and the cost is per person from then on.
Five agents on Growth at $19 per agent per month is $1,140 a year. On Pro at $55 it is $3,300. On Enterprise at $89 it is $5,340. None of those numbers are unreasonable for what Freshdesk is — but they all move in the same direction, and they cover the helpdesk only.
Stillpoint Pro is $299 a year for up to five sites with unlimited agents, and the licence also includes the CRM, quotes and invoicing, the WooCommerce suite, work management and marketing automation. Add a seasonal contractor at Christmas and nothing changes on the invoice.
Threading: a documented difference, stated factually
Both products turn email into tickets, and the interesting cases are the replies. Freshdesk documents that its threading falls back to a subject-line identifier after the association with the original message id expires — that is its published behaviour, not an accusation, and it is a reasonable design for a high-volume cloud service.
Stillpoint takes a different approach because it does not need to expire anything: a signed token in the reply address is checked first, then standard References and In-Reply-To headers, and then the sender is corroborated against the known participants on that thread. A subject-line match on its own never merges two customers' conversations. Duplicate delivery is blocked by a unique constraint in the database on the message identifier rather than an application-level check.
Whether that matters depends on your mail. If your customers reply from one address with well-behaved clients, you will never notice. If they forward threads between colleagues and rewrite subjects, you will.
- Signed reply token checked first, so a subject line is never the sole basis for a match
- References and In-Reply-To headers used before any heuristic
- Sender corroborated against the thread's known participants
- Duplicates stopped by a database constraint, not a race-prone application check
What the CRM underneath changes
Freshdesk is a support product; the customer's order history, deal history and invoices live elsewhere and come back through integrations. Stillpoint holds all of it in the same database, so the ticket screen shows lifetime spend, RFM segment, the specific WooCommerce order and its line items, open deals and unpaid invoices with nothing to configure.
It also means the reporting can cross that boundary — tickets per 100 units sold by SKU, support load by customer segment — and a support conversation can become a quote, a deal or a project against the same customer record.
Data residency and the trade you are making
With Freshdesk your conversations sit in the vendor's cloud; with Stillpoint they are in your own database on your own server, in a jurisdiction you chose, under a retention policy you set. For some organisations that is the deciding factor rather than a preference.
The honest counterweight: hosting it yourself means patching, backups and uptime are your job. Freshdesk does all of that for you, and its free tier does it for nothing.
When you might pick Freshdesk instead
Freshdesk is the better answer in these situations:
- You are one or two agents and free is the right price.
- Omnichannel matters — Stillpoint has no chat, social or voice at all.
- You want AI features; Stillpoint has none.
- You have no server and no wish to acquire one.
If you are a two-person team on email today, take the free plan and revisit this page when you hire the fourth person.
Which one should you choose?
Choose Freshdesk if…
- You have one or two agents and the free tier covers you — it is the best free offer in this group.
- You need chat, social, messaging or voice alongside email.
- AI-assisted replies and triage are part of how you want to work.
- You would rather the vendor handled hosting, patching and uptime entirely.
- You have no interest in a CRM, invoicing or store data sitting under the helpdesk.
Choose Stillpoint if…
- You have three or more agents and per-agent pricing has started to bite.
- Email, web form and a portal are how your customers actually reach you.
- Agents need to see orders, line items and lifetime value while replying.
- You want the helpdesk, CRM, invoicing and WooCommerce context in one flat licence.
- Customer conversations need to stay on infrastructure you control.

Above the free tier, yes. Freshdesk is free for one to two agents, then per agent per month: Growth was $19, Pro $55 and Enterprise $89 when we checked in August 2026, billed annually. Stillpoint charges per site rather than per agent — $299/year for up to five sites with unlimited agents.
Yes, for one or two agents, and it is a genuinely usable helpdesk at that size rather than a trial. The moment you add a third agent the whole team moves to a paid tier, which is where the per-agent arithmetic starts to matter.
Stillpoint's Service Desk is designed for exactly this case: tickets, email piping, business-hours SLA, a customer portal and a knowledge base running inside your own WordPress install with unlimited agents for $299/year. It does not match Freshdesk's omnichannel or AI features, so it fits teams whose support arrives by email and web form.
Freshdesk documents a fallback to a subject-line identifier once the association with the original message id has expired. Stillpoint checks a signed token in the reply address first, then References and In-Reply-To headers, then corroborates the sender against the thread's known participants, so a subject match alone never merges two customers' conversations. Duplicates are blocked by a unique database constraint.
